2
Collect your India-specific documents.
3
Complete DataFlow primary source verification.
4
Book and pass the Prometric GP exam.
5
Submit Get Registered and receive your DHA registration.
6
Get a job offer and let your employer activate the licence.
DHA groups these into three official stages. Steps 1 to 4 verify and assess you. Step 5 is Get Registered. Step 6 is licence activation.
Step 1: Create a Sheryan Account and Run the Self-Assessment Tool
Open Sheryan, DHA's online licensing portal, and create a professional account. The portal gives you a DHA Unique ID. You will need it again at Prometric.
Run the Self-Assessment Tool next. Choose Physician, then General Practitioner. Answer the questions about your degree, internship, experience, and registration, and make sure your documents can back every answer. Type your name exactly as your passport shows it, because every later file must match that spelling. The tool also tells you if your profile needs the exam at all.
Step 2: Collect Your India-Specific Documents
Experience letters cause the most delays in DataFlow, so ask your employers first. Then gather the rest.

No attestation needed. Many agents tell doctors to get MEA or embassy attestation before applying. DataFlow's own FAQ says it does not require attestation or apostille for primary source verification. It also does not need translated or physical copies. Skip the extra stamps and spend that time on the documents above.
Step 3: Complete DataFlow Primary Source Verification
DataFlow Group checks your papers at the source. Its team contacts your university, your medical council, and each employer to confirm that your documents are real. DHA requires this for every international applicant.
Start from the link inside Sheryan, upload your documents, and pay online. DataFlow charges by package. Many sources cite about AED 1,235 for a doctor's standard package, and some issuing bodies add their own release fees. Confirm the exact price on the portal before you pay.
Plan for 4 to 14 weeks. Sources report a wide range, and Indian files often slow down when a university or employer takes weeks to reply. Tell your employers to expect an email from DataFlow so nobody ignores it.
DHA lets you run DataFlow and exam booking at the same time. Start both in the same week.
Step 4: Book and Pass the Prometric GP Exam
Sheryan issues an eligibility number for the exam. Copy it, open the Prometric DHA exam page, and pick a date and test center. Prometric runs centers in India, so you can sit the exam at home without flying to Dubai.
The General Practitioner exam (code GEN5331) is a computer-based test with 150 multiple-choice questions. You get 3 hours, and you need 60% to pass. Most questions describe a patient and ask for the next best step. Expect core areas of general practice, such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology.
You get three attempts across all UAE health authorities combined. That count follows you if you apply to another emirate later. Prepare before you book. Practice on a screen with timed mock tests, since the real exam runs on a computer.
Sheryan shows a Pass or Fail result and no score.
Step 5: Submit Get Registered and Receive Your DHA Registration
Open Get Registered in Sheryan once your DataFlow result and exam result are in. DHA reviews your file against the PQR for the GP title. It may ask for an oral assessment for some positions.
Pay the AED 200 credentialing fee. Sheryan may add other fees at checkout.
Approval gives you a DHA professional registration and places you in the Dubai Medical Registry. The registration lasts one year. It is not a licence, and you cannot treat patients with it.
Step 6: Get a Job Offer and Let Your Employer Activate the Licence
A job offer matters only at this stage. You can finish everything before it, then apply to DHA-licensed facilities with your registration in hand.
Once a facility hires you, it sends an Activate Professional License request through Sheryan. You accept it. The facility completes its own requirements and pays its fees, and DHA issues your professional licence. You may practice only after that licence is issued.
Watch the clock. Your registration expires after one year. If no employer activates it in time, it lapses, so renew it before it expires.
